City Plans Midtown East Rezoning to Aid Tower
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has proposed the rezoning of Midtown East which could have a large impact on commercial development in the area. The new developments would still have to be approved by the City Planning Commission and the City Council.

Supreme Court Decision Impacts Property Owners Across the Country
The Supreme Court issued its decision in the case of Marvin M. Brandt Revocable Trust v. US which explored the question of who owns the land underlying a railroad right of way after it is no longer being used as a railway. In this case. landowners in Wyoming fought against the conversion of railway corridors on their property into a bicycle trail open to the public. Lawyers for Brandt argued that the government no longer had a right of way once the rail line was abandoned. In an 8-1 opionion, the court ruled in favor of Brandt citing that the 1875 Railroad Right of Way Act only afforded the rail line a temporary easement across the land.
